Dear Friends of The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center

From the Biscayne Nature Center:

Our beloved Biscayne Nature Center, a symbol of inspiration, education, and the natural beauty of Key Biscayne, is facing unprecedented challenges from Miami-Dade County, and we need your help.

While the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center building was built in 1985 by private donations in honor of Marjory, the County has sent an eviction letter, effective November 23, 2025, stating that all of our programming and related operations must end.

The mission of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center is to provide a sanctuary for students to learn about our marine ecosystem and a place where generations of families have connected with nature. We have no plans to abandon that mission.

For more details on the County’s efforts, WLRN has a fine story outlining the issues involved.
